20 best AI link building tools and software for 2026

The best link building tools in 2026 do one of four jobs. AI outreach agents find sites, write the pitch and send it from your inbox. Prospecting software builds and filters the list. Expert quote platforms get you links from journalists. Contact and monitoring tools find the editor's email and check that the link stays live.

This list covers 19 AI link building tools across those four jobs, plus one done-for-you option for teams that would rather not run software at all. We skipped the big SEO suites and the well-known link agencies on purpose. You already know those. The tools below are smaller, newer or more specialized, and several have prices well under $100 a month.

We did not buy these tools to test them. Each entry is based on the vendor's own site, checked on November 1, 2026, with the pricing page linked next to each price.

Short answer: if you want an AI agent to run outreach for you, start with Outlink AI or Mentiohunt on price, or BacklinkGPT if you want to approve every site fee. If you have expertise to share, Featured and Source of Sources earn links from journalists with no outreach at all. If you want the work done for you, AY Rank is the one done-for-you option here.

AY Rank done-for-you AI link building service cardAY Rank done-for-you AI link building service card

Disclosure: AY Rank is our own agency, and this is our own service. It is the only done-for-you option on this list, so read it with that in mind.

Every other entry here is software you run. AY Rank is for teams that don't want to run any of it. The team earns white-hat links on the sites ChatGPT and Perplexity already cite, so one link helps both classic rankings and AI answers. Methods are digital PR, guest posting, resource page outreach and expert quote responses. A competitor backlink gap analysis shows which placements your competitors have and you don't.

The full scope and FAQ are on our AI link building services page.

Best for

  • Brands that want to be named in AI answers as well as classic search results
  • Teams that would rather hand off outreach than learn a tool

Pricing

  • Starting from $500
  • Starts with a free AI visibility audit

Pros

  • White-hat methods only, no link farms or PBNs

Cons

  • Premium service for companies above $1M ARR

These tools are the closest thing to automated link building that stays inside Google's rules. The AI finds pages, writes the pitch and follows up. A real site owner still decides whether to link.

BacklinkGPT AI link building toolBacklinkGPT AI link building tool

BacklinkGPT is an AI agent for site owners with no SEO team. It reads your site, finds niche pages that could link to you, finds the person behind each page and drafts a pitch sent from your own inbox or LinkedIn. It also drafts replies and fee counter-offers within the budget you set, and alerts you if a won link disappears.

The site is upfront about cost. Most links come with a site fee, often $75 to $250, paid by you to the site owner. You approve every send and every fee.

Pricing (source: backlinkgpt.com/pricing)

  • Starter $149 a month, Growth $399, Scale $999
  • Extra inboxes $19 a month each
  • Free preview with no card, refund within 24 hours if nothing was sent

Pros

  • Tells you before you pay if your site isn't ready for outreach

Cons

  • Site fees on top of the plan, and first links take 3 to 6 weeks per the site
  • English only, not built for agencies

Outlink AI runs the whole loop: it finds prospects, scores them for relevance and screens out spam and PBNs, writes a pitch tied to a specific section of the prospect's page, and sends from your Gmail or Outlook within warm-up limits. It sorts replies, negotiates and hands off to you when it needs a decision. It re-checks live links and their indexing.

Pricing (source: outlinkai.com/pricing)

  • Starter $39 a month, or $31 billed yearly: 150 emails a day, 3 inboxes
  • Growth $99 a month, or $79 billed yearly
  • Scale $299 a month, or $239 billed yearly
  • Free workspace with real prospects and sample pitches, 14-day money-back guarantee

Pros

  • One of the cheapest full automation plans here, with yearly prices published

Cons

  • High send limits can hurt your inbox reputation if you don't keep volume low

4. Mentiohunt, best for founders with a content library

You give Mentiohunt your sitemap or a few article URLs. It scans every day for sites that fit each article's topic and queues each one with a contact, a reason it fits and a draft email. Once a prospect replies, automation stops and you take over from your own mailbox. It also monitors your backlinks.

Pricing (source: mentiohunt.com/pricing)

  • Pro $49 a month: 1 site, about 25 opportunities a day, unlimited inboxes
  • Agency $99 a month: up to 5 sites
  • Free preview with no card, then a 7-day trial that needs a card

Pros

  • Flat, low price with unlimited inboxes

Cons

  • Outreach is scheduled by default, so you have to cancel the pitches you don't want

AutoBacklinks finds prospects (guest posts, listicles, reviews, pages ChatGPT cites, competitor backlinks), finds verified contacts and sends sequences from your mailbox. The AI drafts each email, sorts replies and estimates a fair price when a site asks for a fee. It ships an MCP server, so you can run it from Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor.

Pricing (source: autobacklinks.ai/pricing)

  • Starter $49 a month (launch offer, listed at $79): 2,500 credits, 2 sites
  • Growth $179 a month, Scale $399 a month
  • 7-day trial with 120 credits, card required

Pros

  • The link price estimator helps you avoid overpaying for placements

Cons

  • Credit billing makes monthly cost harder to predict, and the product only launched in August 2026

6. MentionAgent, best for tracking AI citations alongside outreach

MentionAgent finds niche blogs, qualifies them, finds the editor and pitches for a mention or link, sending from a separate warmed inbox it sets up for you. Twice a month it asks ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini buyer questions to see whether they name you. The pitch is a two-way swap: each side adds a mention in a relevant post. The site says partners are independent blogs it contacted, not a pool of other subscribers.

Pricing (source: mentionagent.ai)

  • Starter $99 a month: 1 site, 1 inbox, 1,200 emails a month
  • Larger tiers at $179, $329 and $629 a month by number of inboxes
  • 50 free credits with no card, 14-day money-back guarantee

Pros

  • AI citation checks built in, which few outreach tools have

Cons

  • You give a link back in every swap, and Google's spam policy warns against excessive link exchanges, so keep swaps few and relevant

7. BacklinkBot, best for small SaaS teams with several sites

BacklinkBot finds pages already ranking for your keywords and pitches the editor, founder or writer behind each one. It scores each prospect and shows why, drafts a pitch, sends after you approve, follows up on day 3 and day 7, then checks every week that won links are still live and followed.

It also sells a one-time directory submission package from $99. Be selective there, since Google lists low-quality directory links as link spam. Our list of free backlink sites covers which directories are worth your time.

Pricing (source: backlinkbot.ai/pricing)

  • Starter $49 a month ($19 for the first month): 1 site
  • Pro $99 a month: 3 sites
  • Growth $199 a month: 10 sites

Pros

  • Low per-site price and weekly checks on won links

Cons

  • Approving every email by default is slow once volume grows

8. Blazly Backlinker, best if you already use Blazly

Blazly Backlinker is part of the Blazly SEO and social suite. Its pricing page says it finds link opportunities, sends personalized outreach at scale and tracks replies in one place. Blazly's blog describes an AI site qualifier and email writer, but there is no product page that confirms the details.

Pricing (source: blazly.ai/pricing)

  • From $29 a month
  • 14-day free trial advertised

Pros

  • Lowest entry price of the AI outreach agents here

Cons

  • Little public detail on limits and what the AI does

These are the older category of link building software. You run the campaign, and AI helps with filtering and writing.

9. Linkee, best for vetting large prospect lists

Linkee finds sites for a keyword or takes your Ahrefs or Semrush exports, then vets them on relevance, DA, spam score and PBN signals. It finds and verifies emails and runs guest post and niche edit sequences.

Pricing (source: linkee.ai/pricing)

  • Essential $80.83 a month, Pro $164.17, Agency $298.33, on yearly billing
  • 14-day trial with 500 credits, no card required

Pros

  • Strong filters for spam and PBNs before you send anything

Cons

  • The pricing page shows a second, different set of plans, so confirm what you are buying

10. Pitchbox, best for agencies running outreach at volume

Pitchbox covers prospecting through Google results and Ahrefs, Semrush, Moz or Majestic data, then email sequences, a CRM pipeline, a shared inbox and backlink monitoring. AI is on every plan: a campaign assistant, a template writer, bulk email personalization on higher plans and an AI reply agent.

Pricing (source: pitchbox.com/pricing)

  • Pro $300 a month, or $210 a month billed yearly
  • Advanced $600 a month, or $420 billed yearly
  • Scale $1,200 a month, or $825 billed yearly
  • 1-year commitment on all plans

Pros

  • Covers the whole job in one tool

Cons

  • Expensive for a small team, and the trial sits behind a sales demo

11. BuzzStream, best outreach CRM for small teams

BuzzStream is an outreach CRM for link building and digital PR: contact discovery, templates, tracked emails, automatic follow-ups and link monitoring. The AI lives in a separate product, ListIQ, a Chrome extension that researches journalists, finds emails and checks whether a writer is still active.

Pricing (source: buzzstream.com/plans-pricing)

  • Plans from $49 a month (the comparison table on the same page lists a Solo plan at $19)
  • ListIQ from $24 a month
  • Free trial on every plan, no minimum term

Pros

  • Monthly plans with no contract

Cons

  • Two conflicting price tables on one page, and AI costs extra

12. Dibz, best for cheap prospect lists

Dibz runs preset searches for guest posts, resource pages, forums, giveaways and local citations, then filters results with its own spam score. It groups contact emails and exports to CSV. There is no AI and no sending; it only builds lists.

Pricing (source: dibz.me/pricing)

  • $1 per credit per month, from 25 credits ($25 a month)
  • Pro 110 credits, Enterprise 270 credits
  • 15-day free trial, no card

Pros

  • Pay-as-you-go prospecting with spam filtering

Cons

  • Prospecting only, so you need another tool to send

SEO SpyGlass is a desktop backlink tool. It shows who links to your competitors, finds sites that link to them but not to you, scores each link for penalty risk and builds a disavow file. It is not an AI tool, but it covers the research step for free up to a limit.

Pricing (source: link-assistant.com/pricing)

  • Free: up to 1,100 backlinks per site, two link profiles compared
  • Professional €129 a year, Enterprise €259 a year

Pros

  • Free tier is enough for a small site's gap analysis

Cons

  • Desktop software with no outreach

Journalists and writers ask for expert quotes every day. Answer the right request and the article often links back to you. These platforms deliver the requests.

Featured is a PR platform that collects journalist requests, podcasts, bylines and awards in one place. Its AI chat helps research and draft pitches, and scheduled workflows watch for new requests. It also tracks where you are cited in AI search.

Pricing (source: featured.com/pricing)

  • Free plan, no card
  • Lite $39 a month ($29 billed yearly), Pro $99 ($79 yearly), Pro+ $299 ($239 yearly)
  • Team plans from $199 a month

Pros

  • A real free plan, and every plan has the same features

Cons

  • The site doesn't explain how many pitches turn into links

15. Qwoted, best for experts chasing press quotes

Qwoted connects journalists with expert sources. You pitch reporters' requests and get listed in an expert database. No AI is described on the site, and it doesn't promise links.

Pricing (source: qwoted.com/pricing)

  • Basic: free, 2 pitches a month on a 2-hour delay
  • Pro $149.99 a month, or $1,188 a year: 35 pitches a month, instant delivery

Pros

  • Free tier with real journalist requests

Cons

  • Pro is expensive per pitch, with no link guarantee

16. Source of Sources, best free journalist request list

Source of Sources is run by Peter Shankman, who founded HARO. You sign up with your name and email and get up to three emails a day with journalist queries. Reply directly to the ones where you have real expertise. Off-topic replies get you removed.

Pricing (source: sourceofsources.com)

  • Free

Pros

  • Costs nothing and goes straight to your inbox

Cons

  • No AI matching, so you read every request yourself

17. MentionMatch, best free option for B2B experts

MentionMatch is the new name for Help a B2B Writer. B2B writers post requests for quotes, data or stories, and registered experts get matching requests by email. Mentions in B2B articles tend to be on relevant sites, which is what you want from a link.

Pricing (source: mentionmatch.com)

  • Free for sources and writers

Pros

  • Free, and focused on B2B topics

Cons

  • Mid-rebrand, with a "launching soon" banner on the site

18. Hunter.io, best for finding editor emails

Hunter finds and verifies email addresses by domain or by name, and runs cold email sequences. An AI writing assistant drafts emails on paid plans. It is a general sales tool, but it is one of the most common ways to find the right editor for a pitch.

Pricing (source: hunter.io/pricing)

  • Free: 50 credits a month
  • Starter €49 a month (€34 billed yearly), Growth €149 (€104 yearly)

Pros

  • Simple credit pricing: 1 credit per email found

Cons

  • No backlink or site quality data

19. Snov.io, best for contact finding plus sequences

Snov.io finds and verifies emails and runs outreach sequences with warm-up. Its AI writes and rewrites emails, scores reply interest and generates buyer personas. It also has an MCP server for AI assistants.

Pricing (source: snov.io/pricing)

  • Free plan: 50 credits a month, renews every 30 days
  • Starter $39 a month ($29.25 billed yearly), Pro S $99 a month

Pros

  • Free plan never expires

Cons

  • Built for sales, so you filter link prospects elsewhere

Linkody checks your backlinks every 24 hours and alerts you when you or a competitor gains or loses a link. It shows DR, DA and spam score, and includes a disavow tool and white-label reports. There is no AI.

Pricing (source: linkody.com/en/plans)

  • Webmaster €13.90 a month (€10.50 billed yearly): 2 sites, 500 links
  • Pro €45.90 a month: 20 sites, 5,000 links
  • 30-day free trial, no card

Pros

  • Cheap and focused, and competitor links don't count toward your quota

Cons

  • Monitoring only

AI is a fine way to find prospects and write pitches. It doesn't change what Google counts as a manipulative link. Google's spam policies name buying links that pass ranking credit, excessive link exchanges, "using automated programs or services to create links to your site," low-quality directory links and widely distributed footer links. Check for these red flags before you pay for any AI backlink generator.

  • A fixed list of sites "ready to link." That usually means a private blog network. Ask who owns the sites.
  • Automatic exchanges between members. Tools where paying users link to each other on autopilot match what Google calls excessive link exchanges. The AI label doesn't change that.
  • Guaranteed DR increases or AI mentions. Nobody controls a third-party metric on your domain, and nobody can promise ChatGPT will name you.
  • Hundreds of links in a week. Real editors reply slowly. BacklinkGPT says first links usually take 3 to 6 weeks.
  • Paid links that aren't tagged. If you pay a site fee, ask whether the link is followed or tagged rel="sponsored". Google covers "exchanging money for links" in the same policy.

Plan prices hide a lot. BacklinkGPT's $149 plan plus one $250 site fee is $399 in a month that lands one link. Run a 60-day pilot, count live, followed, indexed links on relevant pages, and divide total spend by that number.

Do you have time to run it?

Every tool here except AY Rank needs someone to set up campaigns, approve pitches and answer replies. AI outreach agents cut that to a few minutes a day. Prospecting tools and expert quote platforms take more. If nobody on the team owns it, even the cheapest tool is a subscription nobody uses.

How much risk can you take?

If most of your revenue comes from organic search, skip exchanges and bulk directory packages. Stick with outreach where you see every site, and expert quotes where a journalist decides to cite you.

FAQ

For AI outreach, BacklinkGPT, Outlink AI and Mentiohunt are the clearest on method and price. For prospecting and outreach software, Linkee and Pitchbox. For links without cold outreach, Featured and Source of Sources. For monitoring, Linkody. If you want it done for you, AY Rank starts from $500.

AI link building means using AI for parts of the job: finding prospects, scoring relevance, writing pitches and following up. A link still goes live only when a real site owner or journalist decides to add it.

Is AI linkbuilding safe for SEO?

Yes, if the AI only handles research and writing and real people decide whether to link. It is not safe when "AI" means automatic link exchanges, link networks or bulk link creation. Google's spam policy names "using automated programs or services to create links to your site" as link spam.

Automated link building works when the automation covers prospecting, emails and follow-ups and a human on the other side still says yes. A tool that creates links with no editor involved is using a network or an exchange.

An AI backlink builder is software that finds pages likely to link to you and writes the outreach for you. BacklinkGPT, Outlink AI and AutoBacklinks are examples. None of them can create a backlink on its own; they get you in front of the people who can.

Based on vendor sites checked in November 2026, AI outreach agents start between $29 and $149 a month. Outreach platforms run from $49 to $300 a month for an entry plan. Expert quote platforms and SEO SpyGlass have free tiers. Many target sites still charge a fee on top.

Mentions on pages AI engines already cite put your brand in the material they answer from. No tool can guarantee a mention, and anyone who promises one is a red flag.

Bottom line

Pick one AI outreach agent, one expert quote platform and a monitoring tool, and you have a complete link building stack for under $100 a month. If you would rather have a team earn links on the sites AI engines already cite, see how AY Rank's AI link building services work and start with a free AI visibility audit.
